Natural Silhouettes: Silver Jewelry Workshop with Plant and Insect Themes
Hands-on silver jewelry making course inspired by natural plants and insects.
This is a hands-on silver jewelry making course inspired by natural plants and insects. Students will learn basic metalworking techniques such as sawing, chiseling, welding, fusion, and riveting, and create their own jewelry pieces featuring moths, tortoise shells, ginkgo trees, and camellias, completing multiple earrings, rings, and necklaces. The 30-hour progressive course is suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their skills, building stylistic experience and creative confidence.
What will you learn in this course?
30 hours / 5 lessons

Lesson 1 (Part 1): Course Introduction and Basic Technique Practice
The course introduces the properties of metal materials, types of tools, and safety guidelines for their use. Participants will also practice sawing and hollowing out taro leaves to cultivate fine sawing skills and the ability to create shapes.

Lesson 2 (Part 1): Making a Leaf Ring
Using the same techniques from the previous lesson, we will extend our work to making leaf-shaped rings, adding tutorials on welding leaf veins and surface textures.

Lesson 3 (Part 1): Making Camellia Earrings
Trainees will learn petal cutting and three-dimensional shaping techniques, create and weld flower stamens, and practice welding and assembling multiple small components.

Lesson 4 (Part 1): Making a Moth Necklace (Part 2)
The chain is welded together, using riveting techniques to connect the pendant and chain components, and the overall design and wearing function are integrated to create a necklace that is both decorative and technically challenging.

Lesson 5 (Part 1): Adjusting Progress and Enhancing Techniques
We provide one-on-one technical guidance and creative advice to help students deepen their skills, solve operational problems, and integrate their personal series of works.

Lesson 1 (Part 2): Making a Tortoise Shell Pendant
The surface is filed and ground, the veins and pendant are made, the structure is welded together, and surface treatments such as vulcanization and polishing are completed to enhance the texture and finish of the work.

Lesson 2 (Part 2): Making Ginkgo Earrings
Explore the soft lines and lightness of ginkgo leaves, learn different ways of creating textures, practice texture expression, welding and surface polishing, and complete a highly detailed earring piece.

Lesson 3 (Part 2): Making a Moth Necklace (Part 1)
To create a moth-shaped necklace, you will practice integrating three-dimensional composition and layered design by sawing openwork wings and welding together multi-layered structures.

Lesson 4 (Part 2): Free Creative Thinking and Starting Production
During the open and free creative time, students can design and develop their own personal style of works based on the techniques and design concepts learned in the course.

Lesson 5 (Part 2): Finished Product Organization and Results Sharing
Assist students in refining and finishing their work, including polishing, vulcanization, and sanding, to improve the overall quality.
The works to be created in this course
The works are created using silver and focus on themes related to natural plants and insects.
Students will learn various metalworking techniques such as sawing, welding, hammering, three-dimensional shaping, fusion, and riveting, and will make their own themed jewelry featuring moths, tortoise shells, ginkgo trees, and camellias.
The course aims to enable students to design and develop their own personal style through technical practice and conceptual thinking. Students will complete at least five pieces of work by the end of the course.
