Bringing Jewelry to Life: Rivet Structure and Design Silver Jewelry Workshop
Riveting is a technique that combines structure, decoration, and mobility.
Using rivet techniques as the core, combined with hammering and melting techniques, this course will guide you to create movable and fixed metal jewelry without the need for welding. Starting with structural thinking, you will create five or more unique silver pieces, including earrings, necklaces, and rings, learning how to make jewelry "move" with rivets and achieving a connection between creativity and craftsmanship.
What will you learn in this course?
21 hours / 7 lessons

Lesson 1: Introduction and Demonstration of Riveting Techniques
It explains the history and applications of rivets; and demonstrates two core techniques: extended rivets and melt rivets.

Lesson 3: Extending Rivets (Part 2) - Applications in Movable Structures
Demonstrate multi-segment or movable structure designs (such as fishbone or pendant structures); students will create movable works, such as movable pendants or arthropod shapes.

Lesson 5: Round Tube Fabrication and Height Utilization
This course teaches how to create round tubular components to build multi-layered structures, enhancing the three-dimensionality and spatial feel of rivet jewelry; applicable to the design of necklaces or rings.

Lesson 7: Finishing the Creative Work and Sharing
Students complete a full set of pieces (earrings, necklaces, rings, brooches, etc.); the instructor assists with finishing and polishing, and finally, the students share and critique their work.

Lesson 2: Extending Rivets (Part 1): Stable Structures and Decorative Applications
The exercises will extend the use of rivets for connecting and decorating silver sheet structures; students will be guided to design small necklaces or brooches.

Lesson 4: Applications of Melting Rivets
This course teaches the molding and operation of fused rivets, and teaches how to create decorative and functional earrings. Students will also practice using rivets in shaping and creating visual focal points.

Lesson 6: Invisible Rivet Techniques and Structural Integration
Learn about the production methods and applications of invisible rivets, emphasizing their decorative and technical significance; students integrate previous techniques to develop their own works.
The works to be created in this course
Students will complete at least five pieces of jewelry, including necklaces, earrings, and rings, following the instructions.
